New Beginnings

“To new beginnings.”, Aria whispered.

She stood in front of her newly purchased house.

Everyone thought she’s crazy for buying it.

Some said the house was haunted.

In a way they were right.

The battered building with its walls wretched and damaged beyond repair mirrored exactly how she felt inside.

Even from outside the house, she could sense its power over her.

Her skin began to itch as childhood memories of abuse and neglect and shattered innocence started to engulf her.

Longing to feel clean again, she washed the place with gasoline and solemnly lit a match.

“To new beginnings.”
